HDD vs SSD Storage: Which Should You Choose?
HDD storage provides substantially more capacity for the money and is well suited to backups, archives and large media libraries. SSD storage costs more per terabyte but provides faster access, lower latency and stronger random-I/O performance.
Choose HDD When
- Capacity is the priority
- Lower cost per terabyte matters
- Workloads are backup or archive heavy
Choose SSD When
- Low latency matters
- Data is accessed frequently
- Higher random I/O is required
Dedicated Storage Server Questions
What is a dedicated storage server?
A dedicated storage server is a physical server configured with large amounts of disk capacity for storing, transferring and managing data. Its processor, memory and storage hardware are assigned to your server.
Should I choose HDD or SSD storage?
Choose HDD when maximum capacity and lower cost per terabyte are your priorities. Choose SSD when your workload requires faster disk access, lower latency or higher I/O performance.
Where are your storage servers located?
The HDD and SSD configurations listed on this page are hosted in our Ukraine infrastructure.
How much storage capacity is available?
HDD configurations are available from 20TB to 160TB. SSD configurations range from 20TB to 122.88TB, with additional capacities available depending on current hardware inventory.
Is bandwidth unmetered?
Yes. The listed packages include 1Gbps unmetered bandwidth. Many larger configurations use a 10Gbps physical network port while the included unmetered bandwidth commitment remains 1Gbps.
Is the operating system installed separately?
The listed SATA configurations include a separate 250GB SSD for the operating system. SSD-plan storage layouts should be confirmed from the selected product specification before ordering.
Can I request a custom storage configuration?
Yes. Contact us with your required capacity, processor, memory, RAID and network requirements and we will check available hardware options.
What are dedicated storage servers commonly used for?
Common uses include backups, data archives, media libraries, large file repositories, active datasets and other storage-intensive workloads, subject to the applicable service policies.
